One Perfect Shot
It’s that one shot.
That one perfect shot that we pulled off as expected.
It’s exhilarating.
It’s like a drug.
A natural high.
If you play golf you know what I am talking about.
It’s what keeps us coming back for more.
It happened in my most recent round of golf.
In that precious moment I felt like a PGA professional.
A thirty yard bunker shot to a back pin.
It was absolutely perfect.
My swing was effortless and fluid.
I had a world class follow-through.
The sound of my club hitting the sand was like the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra playing in perfect harmony.
The ball came out high with backspin I could sense and feel.
It landed about eight from the pin with some action on it just like the pros do it.
I gave myself an inner congratulations.
I imprinted that shot on my brain because God knows there are enough bad shots stored in my subconscious.
Ben Hogan said, “A good round of golf is if you can hit about three shots that turn out exactly as you planned them.”
Well I had one on this day.
Only two more to go to be like Ben.
That’s why I love this game.
It’s pure passion.
It’s simply for the love of the game and that ONE perfect shot.
Maybe next time it will be two.
Play Inspired,
