Dig It Out of the Dirt
Ben Hogan had a saying that he “Dug it out of the dirt.”
That is how he became great at golf.
He worked and worked at his game.
Becoming a master at golf does not come easy.
Becoming a master of life does not come without much toil and perseverance.
That is what golf teaches.
To never give up.
To keep digging it out of the dirt.
That is where the gold comes from.
That is where the life lessons come from.
That is where the breakthroughs come from.
Quite honestly, if golf was easy we wouldn’t love it as much.
That is why I love golf, because it challenges me like nothing else.
It shows me what I need to get better at.
It teaches me patience.
It teaches me how to transcend my ego.
It teaches me to keep showing up no matter what.
It teaches me to let go of trying to be perfect.
It teaches me humility.
Most of all it teaches me perseverance.
That is why I keep digging it out of the dirt.
Each practice session there is something for me to learn.
Each round of golf there is a growth opportunity.
Golf is a beautiful game.
Yes, at times it feels like torture to me.
The shift I am making is that digging it out of the dirt can be fun.
The breakthroughs are priceless.
The life lesson is to keep digging it out of the dirt.
Perseverance no matter what.
It’s an obsession.
How great will I allow myself to be?
Keep on digging.
Play Inspired,
