Child-like Play

When did I start to take life so seriously?

It’s a game.

When did I start to take golf so seriously?

It’s a game.

The game of life and golf.

Aren’t they both supposed to be fun?

Aren’t they both supposed to be filled with joy?

How can I start playing like a child again?

As a kid I would go to the golf course from sunrise to sunset.

Simply for the love of the game.

I practiced just to practice.

I played just to play.

I didn’t care what my score was.

I loved being outside in nature.

It was my happy place.

It still is.

But at some point I got too serious.

I lost my lightness.

I forgot what it was like to be in the flow.

It’s time to change the game.

It’s not about the score.

It’s about having fun.

It’s about seeing how creative I can be with the golf ball.

How much can I make it spin?

How big of a draw can I create?

Play golf as an artist.

Child-like play.

Will I allow myself that?

I am missing the point if I take myself and golf too seriously.

There is no shame playing golf just for the fun of it.

I am allowed.

It’s not selfish.

I get to pursue my passion with all my heart and soul.

Isn’t that what life is all about?

Living with joy and passion.

To enter the Kingdom of Heaven we must become like a child.

To play our best golf we must become like a child.

To live our best life we must become like a child.

It’s time for me to become like a kid again on the golf course.

And in life for that matter.

Child-like play.

Simply allow it.

Be in the Shot,

T. Anthony
